12-BM mail-in program
For your mail-in/remote experiment please remember that it is YOUR responsibility to:
- Submit Proposal
- To obtain experimental time at 12-BM, all users must submit a General User Proposal (GUP).
- Standard proposals must be submitted prior to the run cycle deadlines (three times per year). Please check the GUP calendar for Proposal Deadlines and Related Meetings schedule.
- Note: at least one member of your research team must be a registered APS user. A valid APS user badge number and password is required to access the system and submit a proposal for beamtime.
- For a new APS user, the step by step guide is here.
- Submit ESAF
- Prepare your ESAF 7-10 days before your beamtime (to give APS enough time to review/approve)
- Include yourself as Remote User and beamline staffs (Sungsik Lee and Benjamin Reinhart) as On-Site Spokesperson
- List all samples and chemicals that will be used at the APS. (See the Policy for Identification)
- Include the CAS number from appropriate SDS.
- Check ALL appropriate boxes regarding known hazards.
- Sample preparation
- Please submit the sample holder request form at least two weeks before your schedulded beamtime.
- Because of handling hazardous materials, all mail-in/remote samples should be sealed and mounted on standard sample holders provided by the beamline staff.
- Do not send unmounted samples!!
- Mount your samples in sample holder using washer or capillary (detail in Sample preparation part)
- Provide adequate amount of sample
- Each sample holder has an unique QR code linked with data entry form. You can try with test-link.
- Provide sample names/information using the link
- Double check for accuracy, and hit Submit
- You can resubmit the form. It will overwrite the existing input file.
- Arrange for samples to arrive at least 2 days before assigned beamtime (please note: on-site delivery is slow)
- Clearly indicate on the outside of the box whether there is any special storage requirements for your samples (keep frozen, keep upright, fragile glass)
- Data transfer
- You will receive a link to download your datafiles during the measurement.
- Data files can be sent as email attachment or shared with Box account.
